Turgut Esendagli sadly passed away on October 12th.  The Waltham Forest Chairman joined the club whilst they were still groundsharing with Ilford at Cricklefields. Within a year he had steered the club back to their former Wadham Lodge base, instigated the setting up of a Ladies and Veteran teams at the club and was actively involved in preparing for Waltham Forest’s upcoming 150th anniversary season.

 

Mr Esendagli was a former President of the Turkish Society Football Federation and was combining being Chairman of Waltham Forest with coaching the Crawley Town U23 team at the time of his untimely death.

 

Outside of football Turget was also actively involved in local politics having served as a Local Councillor for Enfield. His funeral on  Thursday 19th October  was well-attended with Joan Ryan, an Enfield MP; the Mayor of Enfield and a representative from the Turkish Consulate in London being amongst the mourners.

 

The Essex Senior League passes our condolences to Turgut Esendagli’s family and Waltham forest FC at this sad time.
