Basildon United’s midweek Essex Senior Cup win over Ilford meant that they are our only representatives left in the competition. Basildon United Chairman Lee Connor alongside BBC Essex’s Glenn Speller were at the draw which saw Basildon United rewarded with a trip to Billericay Town. Speaking to the Essex FA website, Connor said; “I can’t believe it, to be fair. I said this morning that I’d like Billericay Town at home, but obviously away is still going to be a great game. It’s in a new stadium and they’re drawing a good crowd and hopefully we can get a good crowd over there ourselves as well. I’m really looking forward to it.”
Last time out Billericay Town brushed Southend United aside with a 7-3 victory. But the Bees last season upset Canvey Island on route to reaching the Quarter Finals and will be looking to claim another high profile scalp.
